Lily Lake and An Attempt at Jurassic Park (Estes Park, CO)

Lily Lake and An Attempt at Jurassic Park (Estes Park, CO)

In the Moab post, I mentioned that I’ve recently started rock climbing to share in my boyfriend’s hobby. He’s addicted to it, and for his birthday I renewed his climbing gym membership and got me one too. Goodbye paycheck. But it’s so much fun!! My muscles hurt in ways they never have with yoga, running, dancing, soccer, or anything else I’ve attempted for exercise! However, he is not an indoor climber. He loves hiking up to giant cliff faces and staring at rock walls for a while. I’m slowly starting to be able to see what he sees, though it’s still funny to watch him scamper around pointing at stones.

Moab Giants: Tracks Museum and Dinosaur Trail

Moab Giants: Tracks Museum and Dinosaur Trail

As promised, I am excited to tell you about a unique museum just outside of Moab, UT that opened in the Fall of 2015. Moab Giants came from the idea of scientists and paleontologists studying the dinosaur tracks littering the canyons of Moab and they wanted to find a new and exciting way to share the science of track fossils in a fun and approachable way. After visiting, I would have to say they did an amazing job. Right off Highway 191 at the turn off for Canyonlands is a large building with a dinosaur sculpture hanging out in the corner of the parking lot by their sign. As you drive by, there are more sculptures scattered behind the building in a large open area. This brief glance was what first drew my boyfriend’s attention the first time he visited Moab.

Wandered: New Years Eve 2016

It may be a little belated, but Happy 2017 Wanderers! I got to celebrate the new year in a new place for me, which automatically makes this year awesome.

It’s been on my bucket list to go visit Moab and see why everyone is in love with the desert. So for the holiday, the boyfriend and I headed west to go explore. He has been there before, but was more than happy to have an excuse to go back. We went with the purpose to go climbing since he’s big into that hobby and trying to introduce me to as many different kinds as possible. As the days get warmer and you’re itching to get outside, don’t forget about your loyal furry friend who enjoys the outside too! Adventuring with your canine counterpart is not only entertaining for you but also great enrichment for them too. Hiking is a super easy way to spend time together, something our four legged pals can’t seem to get enough of. If you do plan on taking your dog with you, please take a moment to consider what all that means first. If you do, you’ll never want to go adventuring without them, and they probably wouldn’t let you once they find out how fun it is! NoCo Brew Tour: An Introduction

NoCo Brew Tour: An Introduction

NoCo Brew Tour: An Introduction

Colorado is not just spoiled with our amazing hiking trails, ski resorts, quaint little towns, and stunning sunsets. We’re also pretty darn grateful for the over 320 breweries that are scattered all over the state that allow us to be the obnoxious beer snobs of the country.

I spent my 21st birthday at a local place called The Mayor of Old Town that has 100 taps that rotate nearly every week and bring in some pretty interesting brews, from oatmeal coffee stouts to sickly sweet candy corn meads. My introduction to the beer world was vast and slightly overwhelming, yet intriguing. How can one state have so many micro and nano-breweries that can survive? I’m setting off to find out!

Themed 5ks – The Gateways to Fit

Themed 5ks – The Gateways to Fit

While Tough Mudder is my new addiction, I have to remember how I got there. I’m not a marathon runner or triathlete, I don’t like running that much. However, there’s something to be said about themed 5k races. They’re typically silly and meant for enjoyment and memories instead of personal records. I’ve heard people gripe about them because a lot of walkers show up to these events. My only thoughts are that these fun runs get people up early, outside, and moving. Being active isn’t a common life trait anymore and these runs are bringing it back. I started running because of these silly 5ks. My favorites are the early morning ones.
